RELEASE 0.28

castling support in wild5 and fischer random - redid all castling code

mp3 background music (slows down computer a little more than mod file)
--> switching back and forth and back between mp3 and mod is not working.
mp3->mod->mp3 and mod->mp3->mod may cause crash. mod->mp3->mp3 is
fine. Bottom line: if you want mp3 music, switch from mod->mp3 and do
not switch back without restarting pspChess.

Homebrew Game Squarez v.41

This is a very intresting game. Released by Globware. it's has a pac-man kind of thing going on but your character can cruise all over the screen. the particle animation is a nice touch. 1.5 FIRMWARE PSP Only.

from the Globware site:

Squarez is a simple action game utilizing the PSP's analog stick.

Based on a game called Ball by Nicolay Edin and Axel Hammarback, which was inspired by a game called Eskiv made by Jean-Francois Geyelin.

Commands

ANALOG STICK = Control Blue Player Square
START = Exit to Main Menu while in game

Arcade Commands

X = Turbo speed
O = Slow speed

Hidden Commands

L1 = Pause Game
SELECT = Screenshot (dumped to root ms0:/squarez.x.tga)
TRIANGLE = Programmers Debug Info (#'s enemies and displays player/enemy location info when dead)

New Features

Added particle effects to enemies when they are destroyed.
Particle effects can be set on/off in options - saved to .cfg file
Added screenshot counter to .cfg and options so screenshots will no longer get overwritten.
Added 3 new bomb powerups using particle effects to Arcade mode.
Added L1 for Pause.
Added moving squares to splash/menu, options and credits screens for fun.
.cfg file format (so this is the last time you should delete your .cfg file!)

Features

Classic, Arcade and Survival Modes with unique high scores for each.
Option area to select analog desensitivity, turbo adjust and slow adjust.
5 powerup bombs (random bomb appears every 10 points).

Homebrew Game AgenaWorld v1.1

Just got word from the author AgenaWorld. The game resembles Asteroids but there's a much larger worldspace for your little ship to travel, explore and hunt down the enemies. We haven't been able to test it but this version is suppose to have multiplayer support over the PSP's infrared port. very cool.

AgenaWorld 1.1 has been released. Its the first multiplayer homebrew game
available for PSP 1.0 and PSP 1.5 firmware. You can download it
at http://www.edepot.com/game.html

It works, but you need to resync by pressing the triangle button now
and then, or slow down your cpu speed (an option in the game). But it
is pretty fun
blasting each other. This game looks the the "asteroids" game Ceres (also
on that site).

Agena World is a little like the "homeworld" pc game on the PC.
You can donate via AgenaWorld website to get registered and you can
get more mission objectives. The author will add feature to visi
t planets
and walk around if enough people register too! see the readme.txt file inside.

Note that if you get stuck in a corner, try hyperspacing out (press
the right trigger to hyperspace). one of the best looking homebrew
games available for PSP.

Homebrew Game PSPChess 0.27 + Firmware 2.0 Announcement!

The latest buzz this morning is the news from Sony about a 2.0 firmware. It's been confirmed and with a release date of July 27th. It suppose to include support for WPA, a built in web browser (no more wipeout pure hacks), the ability to swap photos with other PSPs and tons of other new features. This is gonna be a major blow to the homebrew scene because because most people will upgrade to grab the browser. We'll be posting more homebrew during the next few weeks as a last hurrah!!!

pspepe has released DuelTetris. It's is a new twist on a old classic where you control two falling pieces in a tetris board instead of one. weird idea but actually plays pretty well. this might be fun for a multiplayer tetris because you could have another friend control the second piece on the screen. For 1.5 PSP Firmware PSP's folks!

Pad left - move left

Homegrew Game Polygon v0.3 (formerly Bejeweled for PSP)

The Grey Matter's bejeweled clone has been updated and this new version's got improved graphics and a edgy little soundtrack scored by SINX. It's a must download for puzzle freaks but you gotta have that 1.5 Firmware PSP.

basic controls to swap a jewel are hold "O" button + direction on the d-pad.

One annoying bug i've found is that you have to use the Polygon game menu to quit the game (hit select). The standard "Home" -> Quit (Yes) doesn't seem to work.

the release notes:

POLYGON 0.3 is here.

while i prefer to let the game talk by itself, i do have to make several small remarks about this release...

1)for some of you it might seem that there aren't many changes, and while this is is true , it's mostly because most of the changes are in the infra-structure. these changes will allow me me to add more features faster, and shorten the time between the releases.

2) the puzzle game type is a bit laggy, i'm trying to find a way to solve it without overclocking the CPU.

3) in the next release -
- the long awaited jukebox.
- sprite effects.
- better fonts.
- maybe a new graphic theme.

4) and last but not least - i would like to thank to Steve Bisson for creating the audio tracks for this release. in this version there is only one background track. in the next releases i promise to include them all as part of the jukebox!
thank you Steve, i hope there will be more great people like you in the homebrew scene.

5) have fun, and remember - scummVM is way more addictive!

I'm just updating this entry because a new version, v.25, was released this morning.

RELEASE 0.25

properly handle promotions: computer can choose promotional piece, so
can player.

option: show moves (show the moves in the current game)
to show moves you must either have show options off or show
captures off (or both)
you can use show moves as coordinates or SAN.

reset music if finished playing

autoload saved options

save options in options menu

export pgn exports to file name YYYY_MM_DD_HH_MM.PGN

print last move in SAN, keep track of moves in SAN

analysis mode option - when in analysis mode, RTRIGGER will make the
next move in the analysis stack. Analysis stack will be moves up to
the point of switching into analysis mode. Should also work with
stored games.

button change: LTRIGGER goes back only 1 ply. This makes navigating
analysis mode easier.

analysis mode displays last 20 moves (plies)

Terra Incognita is a very nice RPG ported from the pc version. The game has high production value and features a very nicely designed and drawn 3d world . This is not your average homebrew but a full blow, fully developed game. It's by far the most impressive homebrew game so check it out now.

i don't know if it's intentional or not but Edepot has the whole throwback thing going on with the 80's games and 90's web design topped off with the midi music. i love it. Check out their site and donate some cash to unlock more of the game.

This will update cwbowron's Homebrew PSP Chess game to version v0.20. THIS IS ONLY FOR 1.5 FIRMWARE PSPs. the homebrew games and apps won't run if you've upgraded your psps firmware.
