IGN has an article about how the Famitsu peeps have discovered it's possible to play PS2 games on your PSP if you've happened to own a ridiculously expensive Sony PSX. The PSX is essentially a PS2 with DVR capabilities and apparently is on the Location Free compatibility list. You can access the DVR features of the PSX but you can also load the game that's currently in the PSX. Because of the inherent cost of streaming video, the game play lags a few seconds which destroys the experience for action games. Turned based and strategy games would probably work pretty well though. It's funny, we were brainstorming and speculating just the other day whether the PS3 could do this if it had Location-Free built into it. The lag issue came up and killed the email thread. It's good Sony is getting the pieces in place so it'll be ready when the tech is cheap and available.  |
